Rio Grande City officials say they're sending water samples for testing this week and could lift the boil water notice as early as Friday.

That notice was issued on Monday after a pipe break cost the city more than three million gallons and caused the water pressure to drop.

Texas Cafe owner Becky Garza says they weren't impacted by the water outage, but are now trying to boil enough water to keep up with the Christmas rush.

"It is a busier, the busiest time of year, this day," Garza said. "It didn't affect us, but I did take that extra precaution."

City officials say they are working diligently to resolve the issue.
