Woman arrested in Starr County for bribing Northeast Texas jail employee

RIO GRANDE CITY – A woman accused of bribing a northeast Texas jail employee was arrested in Starr County this week.

Linda Elizabeth Martinez Mungia was arrested Sunday by Starr County sheriff's deputies. She is facing an indictment in Rusk County.

According to court documents, she paid an assistant food service manager at the Bradshaw State Jail Facility to provide a "dangerous drug" to an inmate, Lupe Mungia. The incident happened April 19, 2018 when Martinez Mungia sent the payment via the money order.

Martinez Mungia was arrested and released Sunday after posting a $30,000 bond.

She couldn't immediately be reached for comment Tuesday.
