MCALLEN – The federal government says it no longer has enough bed space to keep migrants at the processing centers.

The Catholic Charities Respite Center is now filling up as volunteers are now taking on the responsibility.

Volunteers provided direction, and even food, Wednesday afternoon for the migrants who were released from the processing centers.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection says the migrants were released with a notice to appear in front of a judge; the agency adds these measures are temporary.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas has the details.
