Valley resident from Puerto Rico reacts to damage from Hurricane Fiona
Sol Deliz was born in Puerto Rico, and moved to the Valley after Hurricane Maria devastated the island almost five years ago, and left her with nothing.
"Puerto Rico was finally progressing—was finally doing better,” Deliz said. “To see it take several steps back again, and see flooding once again destroy bridges and roads, and see people losing their houses—it's a very big tragedy."
Hurricane Fiona flooded Puerto Rico over the weekend -just shy of the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Maria. Deliz says it stirred up old feelings.
“It's like reliving it all over again, remembering the chaos, the tragedy from all the houses that were lost,” Diaz said.
Hurricane Fiona was a category one that caused severe damage, leaving the island without power and flooding streets and destroying homes.
Deliz says her loved ones are OK, but not everyone has been so lucky.
