Hidalgo Co. Sheriff’s Deputy Out of the Job after Theft Investigation
EDINBURG – A Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputy is out of the job after being accused of theft.
On Apr. 14, Ivan Tapia was cited for theft under $100 by Edinburg police. He was not arrested, but faces a class C misdemeanor.
As standard protocol, Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office placed him on administrative leave during an internal investigation.
Tapia was terminated from his position Tuesday as a result of that investigation, according to a press release from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
