Those living in Cameron County may have already gotten their tax bill, and now the county is helping residents understand them.

The Cameron County Appraisal District held a Thursday mobile workshop so homeowners can talk about those property values face to face with experts.

The appraisal district said the events are an attempt to help shorten the long lines outside their San Benito office

In 2023, a record-breaking 40 thousand people protested their property taxes. The tax appraisal office says their yearly average is around 15 thousand a year.

The Cameron County Appraisal District sent out the first round of notices last week, and another batch is expected to go out next week.

Those looking to protest property owners are asked to bring pictures or any sales information to show or prove your property value should be lowered.
