Governor Greg Abbott was joined by the Trump Administration's incoming border czar in Edinburg Tuesday to hand out Thanksgiving meals.

The meals were served to Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers stationed in the Rio Grande Valley as part of Operation Lone Star.

The Operation Lone Star members were fed at the South Texas International Airport in Edinburg, where Abbott touted his border security initiative.

“Things like what have happened over the past four years have never happened before in the history of the United States of America. It required an unprecedented response,” Abbott said during the event. “This mission that you are on right now is on your own land. A mission on your homeland to preserve the safety and security of your very own state, of your very own country, of a threat that is on your very own border."

Abbott and incoming U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan also made a stop in Eagle Pass where Homan acknowledged President-elect Donlad Trump's plans for mass deportations.

“Let me clear, there is going to be a mass deportation because we just finished a mass illegal immigration crisis at the border,” Hooman said at the Eagle Pass event.

Tuesday’s visit from Abbott has become an annual tradition for him since Operation Lone Star started in 2021.
