A Cameron County man wanted on a charge of murder has been arrested in Eagle Pass.

Rogelio Mendiola was taken into custody at the Port of Entry II by Eagle Pass Police Department officers assigned to the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

Mendiola is one of three men wanted for a murder that occurred on May 21, 2021. Mendiola, Jose Alfredo Villarreal, and Roman Torres are accused of killing 42-year-old Genaro Urbano Gomez Castillo.

As previously reported, Castillo was found inside a home in Cameron Park in Brownsville with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

The Eagle Pass Police Department said Mendiola was transported to a federal detention facility in Val Verde County, where he will remain pending extradition to Cameron County.
