HARLINGEN – A Rio Grande Valley home health care provider says she tried cashing a paycheck from her former employer last December but was met with an unexpected surprise.

Teresa Briones says she enjoys getting out of bed in the morning.

"I like to serve the people," she tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS.

Briones says she tried cashing her $298.15 paycheck from A Dream Come True Home Care late last year.

"I went to the bank to cash it out and it didn't have funds," said Briones. "And I went again and nothing.”

She says she's tried multiple times to find out when she'll get her cash. She tells us she hears the same thing every time she goes in.

"They told me the boss Luis had to come and signed it. And I called and called and they got mad,” she says.

Briones walked away from the job in early January. She gave us her former supervisor's business card.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS tried reaching out to Briones' former supervisor, Rosie Zavala, on the phone. No one answered.

We received the following message: "The number you dialed has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service."

So we went directly to a Dream Come True Home Care in Harlingen. We arrived just after 3 p.m. Friday. The front door was locked.

We tried calling the main line and received a new message.

"Thank you for calling a Dream Come True Home Care. You have reached us after hours. Our regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Briones says she just wants them to do the right thing.

We'll stay up-to-date with Briones' situation and try to continue seeking answers.
