Right now, 10,000 people in Texas are waiting for an organ transplant.

Channel 5 News and the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance are working together to get more people to sign up as organ donors. The effort is also in memory of late Channel 5 sports director Dave Brown.

Just one donor can save eight lives.

Sylvia and Gabriel Espinoza, whose child became an organ donor, joined Channel 5 News to talk about the importance of organ donation.

We’re teaming up with the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance for an organ donation registration drive on Friday, June 19, at our Weslaco location to sign up more people to become an organ donor.
