The UTRGV men's basketball team came into their matchup against New Orleans having won two straight and were looking to make it three in a row. 

A 12-0 run for New Orleans that started with the game tied at the 10:23 mark of the first half propelled the Privateers to the victory, as they never trailed for the remainder of the game. UTRGV did make a second half run to cut the deficit to just four, but the Privateers quickly retook control and put the game away.

"My 12-year-old can come in here and score at a high level. If we're going to play with that kind of effort or lack thereof. Just tremendously disappointing showing from us from a heart, from a fight standpoint, and a toughness and effort standpoint," said head coach Kahil Fennell after the game.
