McAllen man faces murder charge after woman found dead inside home
A woman was found dead inside a McAllen home after police received calls reporting a man acting erratically.
McAllen police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Redwood Avenue at around 10:28 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.
According to a news release, officers confirmed the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Esai Longoria, had locked himself inside the home and could be heard screaming.
Longoria's grandmother called 911 and reported Longoria had pushed her. She told officers that Longoria has schizophrenia and was not taking his medication, according to the news release.
Officers were able to make entry into the residence and secured Longoria. A woman, identified as 58-year-old Anna Maria Hidalgo, was also found inside the home with apparent injuries.
The news release said preliminary investigation indicated Hidalgo died from stab wounds.
Longoria is in police custody and remains hospitalized. He faces charges of murder, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and injury to the elderly.
Arraignment is pending and the investigation remains ongoing.
