A former Donna city employee was involved in an auto-pedestrian accident on Thursday, police said.

According to Donna Police Chief Gilbert Guerrero, Daniel Rocha, was driving near the senior citizen center Amigos Del Valle Inc. — located at 1408 Silver Avenue — when he struck a woman.

The accident happened at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, within 100 feet of a polling site, Guerrero said.

Rocha was identified as a former employee with the city's public works department who was fired on Wednesday following an Oct. 22 arrest on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence.

According to Guerrero, Rocha's arrest stemmed from an Oct. 22 traffic stop that found cocaine in his possession that he tried to destroy.

Donna police are investigating the auto-pedestrian accident and are looking to see if Rocha will face any charges.

The female victim of the auto-pedestrian crash was hospitalized and is in stable condition.
