The Associated Press has projected that Tejano singer Bobby Pulido will win Texas's 15th congressional district for the Democratic seat.

Pulido ran against emergency room physician Dr. Ada Cuellar.

Preliminary election results show Pulido obtained 32,211, or more than 67 percent of early votes. Cuellar had 15,269, or more than 32 percent of early votes.

The Associated Press said more than 90 percent of the votes throughout Texas have been counted. All election results are unofficial until they’ve been canvassed. 

The winner of the Democratic primary will face off against incumbent Republican Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, who is running unopposed, in November.
