Meet Magpie, the South Padre Island dog helping save sea turtles
A 10-month-old lab-mix named Magpie is working with Sea Turtle Inc. on South Padre Island to sniff out turtle nests on the beach.
Magpie's handlers say she can find hidden nests in minutes.
"Magpie works, rests, and plays; she does all the things dogs do. She just helps us during the day," Sea Turtle Inc. CEO Wendy Knight said.
The dog takes breaks to rest and play between searches.
