McAllen Memorial's wrestler Ava Rodriguez committed earlier today to join the program at Upper Iowa University.

"It is very surreal, this moment, I've been anticipating this moment," said Rodriguez about her big day.

Rodriguez tore her ACL in her senior year but was one of the area's top wrestlers as a junior. She is a two-time regional qualifier and serves as team captain for the past two years. Here's what she had to say about her commitment. 

"All the money that's been put into this, all of the sacrifices that I've been making, I truly could not have done any of this without my school being here, without my coaches and my club coaches."
