City of Alamo offering grants up to $15,000 for new, local businesses
The city of Alamo is offering money to help new businesses get started.
The city has two options available: a start-up grant and a revolving loan fund. To apply for either, applicants must be Alamo residents.
The grant is for new businesses with a commercial property. The Alamo Economic Development Corporation is giving out 5 grants this season ranging from $2,500 to $15,000.
If a business qualifies, it must bring an invoice to get reimbursed.
"It needs to be a new business that is starting up here in our city, they need to be able to produce a sales tax," Alamo Mayor J.R. Garza said. "They're evaluated through our board. We have a board of directors at the EDC and they will evaluate these applications and then award them as they're coming in."
