Alamo, TX (KRGV) — The man charged in the 2023 stabbing death of his roommate in Alamo has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Christopher Lee Soto pleaded guilty to murder in exchange for a plea bargain. He was initially facing 5-99 years or life in prison.

Soto pleaded guilty on Oct. 7, 2026 and was sentenced on Oct. 21, 2026. He received 631 days of jail credit.

Soto was arraigned in February 2024 for the death of his roommate Britney Kay Ireland. Ireland was found dead with lacerations to her neck in a mobile home at the Acacia RV & MH Park, located at 89 East Bus. 83 in Alamo.
