WESLACO – An Oklahoma man spent months looking for his wife’s death certificate in the Rio Grande Valley.

He called 5 ON YOUR SIDE when he had trouble locating this document.

"I've been trying to get someone to call me back,” says John Parrish.

He tried calling the Justice of the Peace, along with other county officers.

KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez reached out to funeral director Lee Castro about the issue.

Castro explains the death certificate goes through the funeral home, a doctor and even to the state.

Usually the certificate will go through the county clerk’s office but some cities don’t file with the clerk, as with this case.
