Several Valley fire departments respond to 1,000-acre brush fire in Linn-San Manuel

Several Rio Grande Valley fire departments are responding to a major brush fire in northern Hidalgo County.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the fire is burning through 1,000 acres. As of Sunday morning, containment is at 40 percent.

Linn-San Manuel, Raymondville, Edinburg, Elsa, Edcouch, McAllen, La Villa, Pharr and Los Fresnos fire departments responded to the call.

Also on scene is the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Hidalgo and Willacy County Offices of Emergency Management, and the sheriff's office from Hidalgo, Willacy and Kenedy County. The Texas Department of Public Safety also provided a helicopter.

The Texas A&M Forest Service is providing resources that include 4 dozers, Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System engine and skidgen, an air attack unit, two large airtankers and two single-engine airtankers. 

No injuries have been reported and no structures have been lost.
