Palmview crews repaving road damaged by sewer project
Those driving down Breyfogle Road from the expressway to FM 495 in Palmview will encounter a road covered in potholes, residents said.
“[The potholes] have been there for a while, and every time it rains, it gets worse," Palmview resident Martin Obregon said.
Obregon said he drives on Breyfogle Road to get home and encounters potholes and manholes that are sticking out.
It’s why Palmview city leaders approved a $100,000 project to repave and repaint Breyfogle Road. The road was damaged nearly six years ago during a sewage project involving the water utility company Agua SUD.
Repairs on the road previously paused as a legal battle played out in court.
“The lawsuit started about five years ago between Agua SUD and the contractor. They still haven't seen a penny, they had to spend a lot of money on litigation,” Palmview Mayor Ricardo Villarreal said.
The repaving project is expected to be completed by Friday, Dec. 5.
Channel 5 News reached out to Agua SUD for comment on the repairs. The water utility company has not responded by the time this story was published on Tuesday evening.
