Hidalgo County bumps pay for election judges ahead of November voting
Hidalgo County is looking for help running the November election and is raising pay to attract workers.
The county needs 69 election judges and is offering $19 an hour for the position. That's a $3 increase from previous pay.
Election Administrator Hilda Salinas said the role comes with significant responsibilities on Election Day.
"An elections judge is the person who's the lead. They're the ones that lead the entire polling location and administer the election at the polling location, making sure that voting processes are being conducted correctly, and paperwork is being filed correctly," Salinas said.
To apply, a person must be a registered voter in Hidalgo County and be available to work on Election Day.
