Drivers are being urged to avoid northbound Closner Avenue following a five-vehicle crash at the intersection of Monte Cristo Road, according to the city of Edinburg.
The crash happened at around 4 p.m. Monday and involved a white semi-truck, a truck tractor hauling watermelons, and three other vehicles.
Several people were transported to the hospital, and minor injuries were reported.
According to a city spokesperson, first responders are still at the scene.
“Please avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible,” the spokesperson said. “Northbound Closner is closed, with traffic being diverted through the Cattle Baron area. Southbound Closner is reduced to one open lane. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Monte Cristo remains open.”
