Weslaco softball catcher Clarissa Mejia signed her letter of intent to Alvin College on Tuesday afternoon.

Mejia was part of the state championship team for the Lady Panthers in 2024. Last season, she won District 31-6A co-Offensive Player of the Year, with a .378 batting average and eight home runs.

"As a little kid, this is something I think everyone who plays the sport of softball dreams of," Mejia said of her signing.

The Lady Panthers are set to begin non-district season in February, the start of what will be Mejia's final season as a Lady Panther.

"We have a bunch of people, a bunch of young ones who weren't there my sophomore year and I want to hopefully let them achieve what we achieved that year and hopefully bring back another state championship to Weslaco."
