WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley mother says she is worried her son will no longer be able to attend his elementary school.
Local mother Silvia Del Torro claims district administrators told her to keep him home after too many school absences.
She says her son has cerebral palsy and a heart condition, causing him to miss school for various doctor’s appointments throughout the year.
Del Torro says she has been trying to get the issue cleared since October.
"It's not like he doesn't want to go to school, his attendance is always going to be like that whether we like it or not," she says.
Weslaco Independent School District says they are looking into the issue.
