The UTRGV women’s basketball team is days away from the season opener in Edinburg.

The team is set to host Arlington Baptist on Monday night as part of a double header with the men’s basketball team.

“To play a non-D1 to start the season, we've always played such challenging games,” Vaqueros head coach Lane Lord said before Tuesday’s practice. “Arlington Baptist is gonna come in here and it’s their Super Bowl, it’s their game of the year. So, it’ll be fun for us to play in front of fans, especially our own fans, and kick the season off right.”

This is the third straight season the Vaqueros have played Arlington Baptist, having won the previous two matchups 110-37 and 110-36.
