UTRGV volleyball is in the final stretch of the season as the team looks to secure a second straight SLC regular season title.

The team is currently tied for the top spot in the conference with Southeastern Louisiana with six games left to play.

Next up for UTRGV, it’s back-to-back matchups against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as part of the South Texas Showdown.

UTRGV won both games against the Islanders last year, one in four sets and one in five sets.

“It's just such a struggle to win that second night and with Corpus it's a struggle to win the first night,” Vaqueros head coach Todd Lowery said. “We’ve gotta focus in on the things that Corpus does. They definitely play a different style of volleyball than probably anyone else in the country. It's so fast, the pass is fast, the attack is fast and they just create a lot of chaos and so how do we mentally deal with that chaos two nights in a row.”

Thursday’s game will be in Corpus Christi with a 6:30 p.m. start time, the same location where this year’s conference tournament will be played. The two teams then meet again on Saturday at noon back in Edinburg at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
