Edinburg, TX — UTRGV men's soccer and Houston Christian finished in a 2 to 2 draw after they resumed a suspended match.

The teams resumed play with 23 minutes remaining in the first half after their match on Oct. 9, 2026 stopped because of an indefinite lightning delay. UTRGV started with a 1 to 0 lead.

UTRGV got a penalty kick with a chance to go up by two goals but Malang Mandiang missed. Houston Christian tied the game at 1 when Ricardo Garcia scored from outside the box.

Conrad Knight saved a Houston Christian penalty kick in the second half. Sammy Jadid then scored near the left post to put UTRGV ahead 2 to 1.

Clarenns Sainrimat later finished a loose ball and tied the game again. The match ended in a 2 to 2 draw.

"We had 11 shots, we should've scored two or three and we didn't do it. We missed a PK again, the second time at home. We got to score on those opportunities. We score them and the game is done. We got two before they get one and it's over. We didn't do it. That's just been part of the games we've been playing in lately. Even in a game where we won, we gave up two early, came back, we fought and dug. Again, we should put away our chances and we shouldn't give away easy goals." UTRGV men's soccer Head Coach Bryheem Hancock said.

The Vaqueros will be back on the same field Saturday when they host Western Illinois at 6:30 p.m.
