Sullivan City has new lights at Memorial Park and leaders say it's part of a bigger plan to improve city life.

Crews installed 36 new LED lights for the infield and walkway. The project took about one month to complete.

"The kids were playing out here and the light was poor in quality," Sullivan City Manager Richard Ozuna said.

The city also plans to add new grass, red dirt, bases, and a backstop to the field.

City leaders say they received a $1 million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to build a new municipal park on Paloma Street.

The new park will include a pavilion, basketball courts, a butterfly garden, a fitness center, a playground, and equipment for kids with special needs.

The city is waiting on final paperwork before starting work.
