Residents who live in one neighborhood north of Donna will soon have longer lasting relief.

For years, Hidalgo County Precinct 1 crews have patched Whitetail Circle. Now, a $150,000 project will repair the entire road.

The project came to fruition after residents reached out to the non-profit group La Union del Pueblo Entero, or LUPE, for help.

The organization worked with the community to speak with Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes about renovating the road.

Fuentes said crews have patched the potholes in the past because funding is limited when repairing streets in neighborhoods. 

“Sometimes we’re not able to tackle these roads inside colonias or neighborhoods,” Fuentes said. “A lot of where we focus money on is on the main corridors, so we rely on the urban county department"

Fuentes said this year, they're putting the limited money from the department toward Whitetail Circle. The project is expected to be completed within six weeks of starting.
