Records: Edcouch teen admits to shooting murder victim ‘multiple times’
An Edcouch teen confessed to shooting a 45-year-old man in Pharr, according to a criminal complaint obtained by Channel 5 News.
Emanuel Flores, 18, remains jailed on a murder charge as of Tuesday evening, Hidalgo County jail records show.
As previously reported, Flores was arrested after Pharr police officers responded to a residence on the 700 block of Chickadee Street Saturday at around 11:30 p.m.
Officers at the scene found an unresponsive 45-year-old man identified in the criminal complaint as Randy Luna Herrera with gunshot wounds, according to a police spokesperson. Herrera died at the scene.
According to the complaint, Flores was at the scene and admitted to shooting Herrera “multiple times with a rifle.” He was arrested without incident, police said.
The complaint said a relative had called Flores warning him to remove property from Herrera’s house because “Randy was making threats against him.”
Flores was arraigned on a murder charge on Sunday and had his bond set at $750,000.
