Parents Concerned about Dangerous Path Leading to 2 San Juan Schools
SAN JUAN – A path to a San Juan school has parents concerned.
Some of the parents tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS their children have to walk along a busy stretch of road without sidewalk to get to both Austin Middle School and Sorenson Elementary.
"Our kids are in danger and they should build a sidewalk for them," says Florhilda Villa, a worried grandparent.
KRGV’s John Paul Barajas made a visit to San Juan City Hall to see what the city is doing about the issue.
The city manager, Ben Arjona, says the district was awarded $2.2 million to help students get to school safely and is expecting another award for the same amount at the end of the week.
If you’re a concerned parent in San Juan, call 223-2200 and ask for Arjona or the Department of Planning.
