MERCEDES – A Mercedes man says drivers on his street are not obeying the speed limit.
He worries about the safety of children who play in the area.
"They pass by through here fast like it's a freeway and they have ball games here, kids, I've already seen a close call on kids," says Mercedes resident Nick Garcia.
He says he’s called the city to request speed bumps but he hasn’t gotten a clear answer.
KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez reached out to Mercedes Public Works Director Jose Figueroa.
Figueroa explains there’s an ordinance in place that includes several steps in order to request this.
