The high school volleyball playoffs start on Thursday, October 29th across Texas. One of the top teams in the RGV entering the postseason is McAllen Memorial.

The Lady Mustangs are coming off an undefeated district season for the first time since 2020. On Thursday, their postseason begins with a matchup against Brownsville Rivera.

“In order to win each round we're going to have to stay disciplined,” McAllen Memorial senior outside hitter Larae Jones said. “We got away with a loy of errors during the district games. So, we're just gonna have to fix that as soon as we play in the playoffs.”

The Lady Mustangs made it to the Sweet 16 last fall in the postseason. This year, they’re looking to go even further as they embark on what they hope is a long playoff run.

“Right now we're gonna have to stay super disciplined, run our plays that we’re supposed to, try to go to the Sweet 16 again because we've gone most years,” senior outside hitter Danara Cardenas added. “This year we're gonna try to go past that.”

Thursday’s game will be on the road at Brownsville Rivera with a 6:30 p.m. start time.
