LIST: Fourth of July events happening across the Rio Grande Valley
Cameron County
The city of Brownsville and the Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department are holding the 4th of July Salute to Freedom 2026 event.
The event is free and will feature live music, classic car show, festivities, food vendors, and ending with a fireworks show. Veterans attending will receive complimentary food and refreshments throughout the event.

Time: Tailgate opens at 5 p.m., event begins at 6 p.m., and the fireworks show starts around 9:20 p.m.

The community is invited to Freedom Fest 2026, hosted by the city of Harlingen.
The event will feature live music, the first-ever Freedom Fest 4K Race, food vendors, a beer garden, family-friendly games and activities, and also a fireworks show.

The city of San Benito is getting ready for the annual ResacaFest.
The event will feature live music and vendors with kid activities and family-friendly entertainment.

Hidalgo County
The city of Alamo's Watermelon Festival & Freedom Bash is set for Thursday, July 2, at the Alamo Sports Complex, located on 600 E. Ridge Road.
Doors open at 2:30 p.m., and admission is free before 6 p.m., and $7 after 6 p.m.
Free watermelons, live music, and a fireworks show are part of the celebrations.
The city of Donna is inviting the community to Donna Night.
The evening will be full of entertainment, fun, and community celebration. There will be a DJ, food vendors, a splash pad, and a fireworks show.

The city of Edcouch and the Edcouch Fire Department are partnering for the 10th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration.
The event will feature live music, free food and drinks, water slides and carnival rides. BBQ pits are welcomed for your family cookouts.

The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for the Valley's biggest Fourth of July celebration.
The event will feature live bands, a car show, the Freedom Jump, fireworks, and family fun.

Time: The event begins at 4 p.m., the Freedom Jump is scheduled for 8:15 p.m., and the fireworks show will start around 10 p.m.
The Fourth of July Firework Show in La Joya is set for Thursday, July 2 at La Joya City Hall.
The city of La Joya will offer snacks. The event kicks off at 7 p.m. at La Joya City Hall, located at 701 E. Expressway 83.
The McAllen Parks and Recreation is hosting an Independence Day celebration.
The event will have an Independence 4K Run, patriotic program, Main Street parade, freedom festival, aquatica extravaganza, and a concert in the sky plus fireworks show.

The event is set for Thursday, July 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Lion Park, located at 1500 E. Kika De La Garza Loop.
Fireworks over Palmview is set for Thursday, July 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Palmview City Hall, located on 400 W. Veterans Blvd.
Live music, food and craft vendors, and a 9:15 p.m. foreworks show will be provided.
The city of Penitas is hosting the Arriba America Fest event.
The festival will feature live performances, food and drink, and a fireworks show.

The event will feature family fun, community spirit, food, contests, a car show, a patriotic pet show, a kickball tournament, and a fireworks show.
