MERCEDES – A Mercedes family says they’re in need days after heavy rainfall flooded out their house.  

Seventy-six-year-old Carmen Mata says for three days they were unable to travel anywhere and ended up in desperate need of food.

She says during the days the family was stuck, she wondered if an aid worker could show up in her neighborhood.  

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey reached out to the head of the Rio Grande Valley Food Bank. A representative says food bank workers and volunteers are assisting in Mercedes.
