Airbnb releases statement after McAllen house party leads to arrest of 5 teens
An adult booked the Airbnb where dozens of teenagers were partying over the weekend, leading to five arrests and over 50 citations, according to the company.
Five teenagers were arrested on alcohol-related charges in connection with the party on the 2900 block of North 24th Street Saturday shortly after 11 p.m.
Police haven’t arrested or charged an adult for booking the Airbnb, but the company announced it deactivated the unidentified person’s account from their website.
“Disruptive parties are rare and strictly prohibited on Airbnb,” the company said in a statement. “In this case, our team removed the account of the adult who deliberately broke our rules by making a reservation for someone other than themselves and by hosting this party. Additionally, our team is in contact with the Airbnb host to offer our full support."
As previously reported, police were dispatched to the home and found over 50 minors ranging from the ages of 14 to 18 years old drinking alcohol at the party.

A total of 56 citations were issued along with the arrests of Kaylin Lee Garcia, 17 and Daisy Charles, 17. Police identified them as co-hosts of the event and charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Three other attendees — Joshua Perez, 17, Simon Martinez, 17, and Erik Abel Perez, 19, were also arrested and charged.
Police said more people could face charges.
Airbnb policy requires the person who makes the reservation be the one staying at the property. They must be at least 18 years old, and people who are underage must be accompanied by an adult.
The company said booking a home for others is a violation of their policies.
