The season finale is coming up for UTRGV football. The Vaqueros are coming off their first road win in conference play against McNeese. Now, they host East Texas A&M in Edinburg to wrap up the season.

“I think we’ve put so much work into this and just to get that first road win especially a conference road win. Just felt so good, the ride back was so much easier. I mean overall from offense to defense, both teams, I thought everyone played amazing, I thought we all complemented each other really well it was just an awesome, fun game”, said redshirt senior quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger.

The Vaqueros are currently tied for fourth in the conference standings. They will finish the regular season no worse than tied for fifth. This, after being picked to finish 10th in the conference in the SLC preseason poll.

"Credit to everything they’ve done and put is in this position and here we are going to our last game and still playing for a lot of stuff and this game means something, means a lot to the first group, means a lot to the seniors, means a lot to the university and everybody down here in the valley so just excited to finish it off here at home," said UTRGV football head coach Travis Bush.

The Vaqueros are 6-0 at home so far this season. They'll hope to keep that perfect record intact in their final game.

"The standard right now is we don’t lose at home so they’re hungry to keep that standard up. There’s no pressure, I mean we said back weeks ago that when this season is over we’re going to celebrate the season whether we’re 3-9 or 9-3 or anything in between. Got on the practice field today and you just realized how fast the season has flown by and sitting here looking past the cameras at the old pavilion we were in months ago and for a year what a world wind of emotions this full year and kind of leading into this last week just kind of reminisce a little bit and just so proud of this group," said Coach Bush.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium.
