The UTRGV football team has accomplished a lot in its inaugural season, from an above .500 overall record to being perfect at home. What remains unchecked is a road win in the Southland Conference.

The Vaqueros have one more opportunity this Saturday when they visit McNeese that recently managed to get its first conference road win of the season.

"Really just looking ahead and looking forward to that challenge and really what we got to do to prepare," head football coach Travis Bush said. "We know we've been in there 3 times already so we know the challenges, we know a similar environment so really focusing on ourselves and that's the big goal this week, trying to find a way to get that done."

"It's going to be kind of let's go over there; our home crowd knows who we are but let's go show the visiting crowd who we are," redshirt junior defensive end Ian Box added. "Let's go make them remember our jersey number and having that pasted on their head when they leave that stadium."

UTRGV has lost its first three conference road matches against ranked opponents in the FCS. Coach Bush mentioned that the team has learned from those experiences and will be ready to put its best foot forward over in Lake Charles, Louisiana this weekend.

"Through our experience and what we learned on the road the past couple of times we can take it this week and try to come out and start fast and compete right off the bat," Bush said.

The game between UTRGV and McNeese is set to kickoff at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
