Tim's Coats ends latest campaign with over $31K raised for Valley families
Tim’s Coats ended its 42nd year with over $31,000 raised to help keep families across the Rio Grande Valley warm this winter.
As part of Tim’s Coats, $31,581 were raised thanks to generous donations from our viewers.
The money will be used to purchase new coats for families in need on Friday. The newly purchased coats will be given to The Salvation Army and Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley.
Both organizations will distribute the coats to those in need.
"Thank you everyone for the hard work the last 10 days to make our campaign a huge success once again!" Channel 5 News Chief Meteorologist Tim Smith said. "Together we are making a difference in our community. More than a thousand people will be warm this winter because of this project. Take a moment on this chilly Tuesday night to step outside without a coat. Then when you slip your warm jacket on, think of the children and adults across the RGV who can now do the same thing — because of the generosity of those who gave and because of the work we have done."
