5 On Your Side: Weslaco woman struggles with contract work left unfinished
A Weslaco woman went face-to-face Monday with a contractor she hired to expand her daughter's home that has yet to be finished.
Norma Vallejo says she expects the contractor she hired months ago, Edgar Giles of the home remodeling company Gillis and Gillis, to start the last finishing touches later this week.
Vallejo says she paid Giles nearly $31,000 to remodel her daughter's home in September. Still, she says the renovations have been incomplete for months in several rooms, including the kitchen flooring and outdoor area.
On Monday afternoon, while Channel 5 met with Vallejo, Giles showed up to evaluate the unfinished work.
After discussing how Giles would complete the job, the two came to an agreement on the pending work.
"He said that he would be done by the 20th, right?" Vallejo said. "If he doesn't, well, I guess I'll have to take other steps and get some advice."
Channel 5 will continue to follow Vallejo's story.
