The Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act, or the CARES Act, the $2.2 trillion plan is hoping to help Americans during the pandemic.
Part of it are stimulus checks sent to every taxpayer who has a social security number for themselves and their qualifying children.
Congressman Vicente Gonzalez says the government will use 2019 or 2018 tax returns to determine eligibility.
For those who have not filed taxes recently may need to take additional steps.
