Valley behavioral center encourages mental health patients to seek treatment

Valley doctors say the pandemic is taking a toll on people's mental health. 

South Texas Health System Behavioral CEO Sharon Pendlebury says psychiatric patients in South Texas have a higher readmission rate than the national average. 

Yet, since September, the center has seen the readmission drop from 21% to 7%.  Pendlebury says one reason for the decrease is the implementation of an illness-based approach.
