DONNA – A local tax preparer says many clients are worried the partial government shutdown will affect their refund.

Julio Rodriguez runs a small tax preparation business in Donna.

"There's just a lot of information out there and people are kind of scared. Is there going to be a tax season? Am I going to get my refund? But everything at the moment is moving smoothly,” he explains.

He explains new tax laws are also contributing to the concerns.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey reached out to the IRS to see the progress made so far this tax season.

According to a statement, the agency will process tax returns beginning Jan. 28 and will provide refunds to taxpayers as scheduled.
