Smugglers Using Tactics to Avoid Law Enforcement
WESLACO – President Trump is requesting billions of dollars in funding for a border wall.
In a speech, he said vast quantities of drugs are coming through the border.
Three weeks ago, a typical situation occurred along the border as a group of men carrying bundles of drugs were encountered by Border Patrol.
Only two men were found, along with some drugs since they scattered into tunnels.
A former FBI agent says smugglers are ingenious at circumventing law enforcement.
"They'll even use decoys of a small load that will get seized, and they'll take advantage of that situation and find routes that are close to that area so they can smuggle their drugs across,” says former FBI agent Arturo Fontes.
KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez has more on these tactics taken by smugglers.
