Several Overnight Shelters Open for Valley Residents in Need

WESLACO – The Rio Grande Valley is expected to experience inclement weather Monday night into Tuesday.

The forecasted cold snap is expected to bring temperatures down to the upper 30s in some areas.

This has prompted local shelters to open for anyone who needs a safe warm place to stay.

The following shelters are open:

Ozanam Center
656 N. Minnesota Avenue, Brownsville

Loaves and Fishes

Intake: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Must have valid photo ID

Mercedes Safe Dome
1202 N. Vermont Avenue, Mercedes
Opens 5:30 a.m.
Must have valid photo ID
Bring own bedding, no pets allowed

Catholic Charities Respite Center
Corner of Austin Ave & 15th Street in McAllen
