Questions Over Regulations Following Towing Complaints

MCALLEN - CHANNEL 5 NEWS looked into agencies who regulate tow away signs.

The interest after a McAllen woman's car was towed from a downtown parking lot.

She says she paid someone to park in the lot.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has a state tow law with specific requirements for how tow away signs should be presented.

Tow law says unauthorized cars can't be towed unless there's a sign that visibly faces drivers as they enter the facility.

To actually get an investigator in the parking lots to see if these are legal, you need to go online and file a complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and explain to them what happened when your vehicle was towed.
