Officials Break Ground for New Hidalgo Co. Pct 1 Substation
WESLACO – County leaders broke ground for the new Hidalgo County Precinct 1 substation offices Wednesday morning.
Construction will begin to replace the one lost during the June 2018 floods.
The 5,266 square foot substation will hold offices for tax, motor vehicle, planning and health departments.
The office will be located at 1902 Joe Stephens Avenue in Weslaco.
Hidalgo County Pct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes said they had already set aside funding for a new building about two years ago.
Leaders highlighted the substation will be the only one in Hidalgo County to have drive-thru service.
