MCALLEN – The city of McAllen was awarded more than $109,000 in reimbursement for expenses during the humanitarian crisis earlier this year.

From Jan. 1 to June 30, the city spent nearly $180,000 of taxpayer money on migrant care.

City Manager Roy Rodriguez says that because of a recent bill passed in Congress, they were only approved for $109,000.

Rodriguez adds that there are two phases of the reimbursement.

He says the city could still receive an additional $30,000 to $50,000 in reimbursement.
