DONNA – Some residents are concerned for the safety of drivers as more potholes appear through the Rio Grande Valley.

Melinda Krummel says a pothole on the corner of Business 83 and 6th Street in Donna is causing concern.

"I almost had an accident the other day because I was turning off Business 83 and it throws you off. The bump is there and I was trying to avoid it but there was no way," says Krummel.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reached out to the City of Donna to find out how they identify and fix potholes in the area.

Donna Public Works Director, Ruben De Leon, says any time it rains, more potholes appear.

De Leon says typically after there is rain, crews go out to find potholes around the city.

He later told us the pothole near 6th Street has been evaluated and will be repaired as soon as possible.
